Waris Ahmed’s story is one of resilience, courage, and the unyielding pursuit of education against all odds. In 2013, his father was forced to flee his home country, seeking safety and a new beginning in Malaysia as a refugee. Years later, in 2019, Waris and his family reunited with him, leaving behind everything they knew for a chance at a better future. Life as a refugee came with countless challenges, but Waris refused to let circumstances define his destiny. Determined to continue his education, he enrolled in online studies through ARCMY, dedicating nearly four years to learning despite the uncertainties around him. With unwavering focus, he then set his sights on earning his General Educational Development (GED)—a crucial step toward his dreams. Through perseverance and countless hours of study, Waris successfully earned his GED, proving that no barrier is too great when met with determination. But for him, this was only the beginning. Now, Waris is ready to take the next bold step in his academic journey: pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Health Science. His passion for healthcare and his desire to give back—inspired by the struggles he and his family have overcome—fuel his ambition. He dreams of one day using his knowledge to help others, especially vulnerable communities like the one he comes from.
