Meerab Butt

Meerab Butt came to Malaysia in 2016, and her education has never followed a single straight line — which is exactly what makes her story worth telling. She studied at Empower Learning System in person until Grade 6, then continued her education online, completing her IGCSE with ELS. It was during those IGCSE years that she found the subjects that would shape everything after. She took ICT and Computer Science, and what began as coursework turned into a genuine interest in computers and technology. After her IGCSE she moved on to a Foundation programme at BAC, choosing Mathematics and Computer Science to follow that interest further, and completed it with a CGPA of 3.44. Alongside her studies she took an Ethical Hacking course through Alison, exploring cybersecurity — a corner of technology she found herself drawn to. Today, at 17, Meerab is pursuing an Associate Degree in Computer Science at the University of the People while working at the same time. Balancing the two has taught her to manage her time, take on real responsibility, and stay committed to her education while gaining experience through work. From an ELS classroom to online IGCSE, a foundation programme and now a degree, each stage has built on the one before. “My path hasn’t been completely straightforward, but I’ve learned that education doesn’t always have to follow one fixed route.
